Abstract
Purpose : Dietary assessment report requires understandable contents and design for participants and newly established ?Dietary Reference Intakes for Koreans (KDRIS)? need to be applied. The purpose of this study is to develop the suitable dietary assessment report for participants in Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study according to KDRIs.

Methods : Direction for the development of dietary assessment report and assessing logic was established through literature review and web searching about DRI-based dietary assessment reports. Workshop and advisory conference were held for developing the contents and design of assessment report. Simulation of assessment logic was conducted through analysis of 2001 Korean National Health and Nutrition Survey (KNHANS) using 24h-recall. Symposium was held to discuss the plan for expansion of nutrient database. Pilot study was conducted to test the validity of assessment scheme and design, in which 124 adults aged 30 years and over participated to complete FFQ and twice 24h-recall and evaluate the contents of the report form.

Results : Assessment report included assessment of foods intake as well as previous assessment items such as weight, energy consumption, the composition of major untrients, and nutrients intakes. Simulation results of the assessment logic using 2nd data were appropriate and the logic was applied to the assessment program. In the
pilot survey, nutrients intake from FFQ tended to be underestimated. The contents of dietary assessment report and nutrition education materials were corrected according to the opinions from the survey participants.

Conclusions : Dietary assessment report and nutrition educational material developed in this study would be useful for the dietary assessment and nutrition education in Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study. The other nutrients can be added to the assessment according to the logic if the nutrients database is expanded. Because cohort participants have heterogenous characteristics, dietary assessment report and nutrition educational material developed in this study can be used in other area such as health promotion and public health, too.
